so I did it .. finally!
Well, I now have my entries hopefully copying to facebook. it was a nightmare though!
at first I just put in my Livejournal URL in the "import" box of Facebook, but I found it put each entry in twice, so upon getting really frustrated while realizing that facebook did not seem to have an option to delete all notes (so as I could just start over), I started to delete them manually, and even though a few got deleted, the site was still sticking for me (or whatever the heck it does) so I called A and she kindly went in and deleted all the doubled up entries.
then I came here, got the XML URL for my journal, and placed that in the box instead, and it hasn't doubled up, so I am hoping this will work properly.
