(no subject)

so yesterday morning Mum and dad came and dad said he had a present for me! and it was a line-in cable that I'd wanted. so wow! I've been in the land of encoding! yeah! have done that Secret7 one and I am currently looking damn high and low for the second tape of the famous5 production. I do not know what it is, but I have always lost those tapes then they've turned up when I'm not lookin for them! anyway, this has motivated me to go through all my tapes. I have absolutely boxes of em and I hate throwing anything out so I keep em all! I have scores of tapes of the radio when i was growing up, not to mention me chattering on with voice diaries etc etc.
I am putting together an extra blank tape collection which I had no idea I had. If worst comes to worse I am gonna grab me 28 blank tapes and record my US trip that way and will encode them when I get back. so course now i think I didn't really need that minidisc, so hard to use. Might resell it? I didn't mean too. I just always do things on impaulse but I realize that my walkman is as clear as clear with the stereo mic, so all I'd have to do is get another one then record then encode so really don't need a minidisc at all like I thought I was so deprived before!
so I'm making excellent process! nearly sorted through one big box - two more to go, but this was meant to be done for sooo long! and it's fun to reminisce too! before I found a tape I hadn't been able to find for ages, and I loved it cos at the end of this story I'd taped from the Vermont library at school, I had put all these really priceless radio stuff (which isn't even on any more) just bits and pieces of really cool stuff which brings back sooo many memories! ah I love it! and of course in the process, have found heaps and heaps more of my old story tapes that I am gonna encode and transfer to site.
I've got a lot of pleasure out of getting work from others, now I will repay! but damnit, the secret 7 is still transfering to the site! it's taking forever man! it's a zipped archive but this has been goin for hours! ah well, it's a bit over halfway done. so yeah think most of my day will be spent doing this great stuff! found my zizuki tape so may encode that. actually was gonna do that now but I can't as this is still uploading.
I still haven't had breakfast I've been so busy with this Lol! might do that while watching doctor Phil! hello, that's lunch!
everything is going right, well, most things. how come I am so happy still?! this is a record for sure! ah well, let's hope it stays.
wow, ya know i calculated this morning that I think I have less days til i leave for the US than what i had been counting. OK I leave on 26th of June. today is only 10 days from the 26th of May. 28 days in a month, add 10, bingo ... 38?! Lol
OK me hungry and gonna eat.
Til Next Time, RdFreak

Omgosh Rachel I can't wait to hear little You.I am going to absolutely die because it's going to be so cute! Are you going to put a link to it on your LJ?
Also if your Mini-Disk is good and easy to use, and if you think it's in good condition from the last dude who had it, maybe if i can't pick one out soon my parents'll let me buy it from you? What do you think?
Take care.

Caitlin

Thanks!

YAY! A Happy Rachel!! Well, too bad about the minidisc since the advantage is the already digital format. There are mp3 mini recorders which are very small and are great for voice recording (but may be hard to use again) Well, when you are here, you can encode your tapes here with my setup if needed.

yeah I realize that but I would want to transfer them to my puter anyway and if my little walkman isn't dea after leaving the batery in in (accidently) it's too clear man! it's all in the microphones! :)

minidisc stuff

Oy, which md do you have? If it's a sony and you have an unpowered microphone which it sounds like you have, you'll need a preamp to make it sound decent as there will be almost no headroom, and very easy to clip, unless you have a powered mic like the Audio Technica ATR-25, which doesn't cost very much, or any of the sony mics, which cost more.
I would just like to say that I really really love my canadian mics from MiniGearLabs but you will most likely need an external preamp with them.
I already had one which i bought from a store called "Church Audio" on ebay, so didn't think much of it. Actually even without a preamp, they don't sound too terrible, and they are only $25 US. A bunch of Ausees already have them apparently, so go talk to them or something?

I'd go with the minidisc option for recording your US trip. Tapes are good and all, but yeah... less for you to worry about when you get home if you do it in a digital media, even if it does have to be converted to analog in the end.

hey hey .. I got a soni microphone also from ebay which I haven't tried in it yet but I am kinda hoping it will work as there's no chord attachment, just a screw on the end. think I may have scored wrong again! if so will have to sell it on e-bay. I'm obviously not technical enough to just read the labels and know what they are. Lol!
I can't exactly transfer data digitally from my minydisc as the cable is wrong! will have to just encode using line-in.
Cheers!
