Lol yeah for msn plus! :)

Well my walkman works well! It even works with my md microphone (even though it's mono and sounds a bit worse cos it's just a plug that goes straight in without a chord) anyway .. I was testing it out. actually had just come over to the puter and pressed the key combo to aim to get the time. actually I pressed the control key and just as I did that I heard a smashing sound Lol! I thought I dammaged my puter! hahaha! and it's all caught on camera here!
Gotta love her! :) LolShe has the nack of playing sounds out of the air, but then I do too!
I looove msn plus and I love my walkman. batery still works like a charm! ah also I found out that I can put my minidisc on "monorery record" (am not sure how it's spelt) but means I can still record for double the time of the standard time. so 74 mins times 2 is 148 - two hours and 28 mins! goes down well with me baby! :) but then if I find my walkman does longplay too (cos believe it or not I have had it since like 97 and never found out what some switches were) I'll use tapes, cos a D90 tape is .. well .. 90 minutes, so longplay or record, awesome! dunno though!
Lol

Hi. Am I correct in thinking you have just a mono microphone? If so then I suggest you set the record mode on your md to mono, plus lp2 or lp4 whichever your mini-disk has.
If you leave in standard lp stereo then of course no longer rec time than 74 but mono, because uses only one channel you get much longer.
Also you can by 80 minute mini-disks if you want. I no longer by 74's personally.
If lp2, as you said, then it's double 74. if lp4, then it's double that. Why use a tape which would hiss, and if your digital recorder does have the capability to record on tape for longer than 90 minutes then think about it, the tape goes at a slower speed, and not only hiss, but degridation of sound. Think of it like perhaps MD as 44.1 KHZ and tape especially if you slow it down! 32 or even 22 KHZ. I can imagine you playing back the recording from a nice expencive crome tape and saying 'I did not record it like that what is the problem?' and being mighty annoyed by it.
Stick to a digital medium because although it will be compressed, as in sound like mp3, it will not hiss. This is just my opinion anyway.
I could not have pulled off the baby archive using tape and still keep the quality i have.
One thing about MD, when you pause it to get on the plane, or at a time you don't want to record, when you start recording once again it makes a new track so you can jump to all the bits you want to play back without problems later. If when you get back home and you are putting it onto pc you want to cut out large chunks of not much, then just skip to the right place. WE all know how difficult and annoying it is to deal with that using tape. You said so yourself on VHS when recording your TV show that you would rewind and fast-forward through it again and again and always be missing it.
When you have time, you could do what I did. One time I recorded a great load of tracks off the radio and I left it over-night. Next morning I went through the disk and cut out all the adverts and talking and I now have about 2-3 hours of pure back-to-back tracks, each one track-marked because with MD you can do this. This means that at a particular point in the track, even though it started out as one very long disk with no breaks, I paused it and pressed the button to put a track-marker. You will definitely find this usefull if using MD if for example someone does or says something amusing and if only for piece of mind, you want to preserve it but do not want to search back and forth through the disk and thus use a lot of battery.
If the MD is left for a long period of time it buffers and therefore it uses a lot less battery.
On my md one A.A battery will last upto 58 hours play-back.
Also, why by an MD if you plan not to use it? I think this is counter-productive, no?
Just some thoughts.

yeah .. hey thanks for that! yes I think I will definitely use the MD. I bought it cos I liked the quality but then I was just hoping i might actually be able to learn how to use it in time. but like I say, it's got that monoery record thing that you can also set to stereo (if that makes any sense) so yeah .. also your mics sound awesome! :) were they kinda expensive?
thanks again!
just wish they weren't as visual! Lol that monoery record thing sounds kinda confusing. I mean it has on the display whether it's working there or not!
anyway random observations.
Cheers! :)

Hardly. Cost me about $26 or there abouts. I also bought a pre-amp to go with the mics because I don't like the microphone socket on the MD I prefer to use Line-in. It's cleaner and has more head-room.
