Hi Rachel, to fix your Skype problems, go into Skype's preferences, visit the sound devices section, and make sure that automatically adjust my sound settings is unchecked. Then finally the folder for your Skype username. In there, you will find a file called config.xml, which you should open in Notepad. Edit this file so that the micvolume level is set to 255. You may need to experiment with this as on some microphones, 255 will be a bit too high. Also check for a line referring to agc and be sure this is set to 0. Hope this helps.
