so powerless

So us Ausies feel totally powerless as Melbourne-born Van Lyn (excuse spelling) will be executed in Singapore tomorrow morning for drug trafficking.
Now we all know it's their laws. - we don't have capital punishment versus they do, but it's such an awful thought. Apparently he was trying to raise money for his twin brother for something. wrong way to go about it, yes? but, damn! does it have to cost him his life. he is only 25!
We knew about this for months and everyone has been doing their best to keep him alive but to no avail! I just hate to think of it.
then as it gets closer, the debate was over his Mum being able to hug him one last time! The argument was that it would be extremely difficult to have to let go, (which i agree with) but she is allowed to hold his hand! Even to the very last minute Ausie politicians and his lawyer team, etc. is fighting to keep him.
and of course a close friend of the mother's is having to make funeral arrangements already for next week!
I can't bear to think of it any more. It's just so wrong! sure, drugs are evil and I get sooo mad with them, but I just don't think it's entirely fair - especially as I guess we don't have it over here any more so are not use to it realistically speaking, but then, he did know the rules! We all know when we are travelling to countries with capital punishment.
I dunno, as I listen to the news, I am way too sad to bother with a poll like I was going too.
(but do you, my readers think this is fair or not and why?)
Til Next Time, RdFreak
P.S. hanging is sooooo freak cruel
:edit:: P.P.S. He gets a takeaway meal tonight up to $8.

My opinion

Hmm you're prob gonna hate me for this, but you did ask for my opinion...I personally am against capital punnishment, at the same time when people do things like kill others and not for self defence reasons in a way I think they deserve it. Drug traficing, in my opinion, is not something that deserves someone to be executed. What annoys me though is that in this country there's so many people who deal drugs, get alot of money out of it, yet they also claim social security benefits like they're unemploied. In my opinion they should be in presun for life, because they're taking tax payers money, they're taking money off those who are genuinly unable to find jobs IE disabeled people or simply those like me who are currently in a process of looking for a job. At the same time, I used drugs in at one point in my life, so I can't exactly say that I'm against it because it would I guess make a bit of a hipocrit, but I never soled them, never dealt drugs and most of the time I never even bought them, most I ever did is smoked a few joints at a party and if someone's living their life, have a propper job and making some money off drugs although I disagree with it, it doesn't annoy me as those who claim state benefits. Now back to the real subject, like I said, I definitely agree that the guy doesn't deserve to dye, however, like the rest of you said he should have expected something like this to happen. In my opinion if I had a choice, he should have been brought back to australia and staid behind the bars in there for very long time, possibly for life.

yep that's exactly what I was thinking. (it's less than half an hour as of this writing)
