yeah heartly!

Last night I went to meet J, S and N at Kooyohng for writing group. It was sure one big adventure. never ventured through cyndall station and to building from Kooyong station on me own before and Heartly was wonderful!
First of all, the kindly bus driver asked me straight away where I wanted to be let off, as soon as I got on buss. so told him. then a while later I heard him exclaim "crap!" and I knew it was about me! yes, he'd forgotten again! *sigh* so he had to get off bus and help me across the road as I never course know where lights are and all that. turns out they were only a little way from parked bus and stop was only little way past lights on other side but I wasn't to know that! anyway after ages the other bus came and I got let off at cyndall and course had to cross back on my own. then Heartly found the entrance to the station (after a bit of fluster from me) so was pleased. Then we successfully walked to VA at Kooyong and Heartly turned in the drive marvellously! man she's like a human sometimes! it's times like this I forget she's a dog! anyway it was good! Ya just feel really good when you've done it first time on ya own!
anyway it's a great little group S has organized! my course and that group go nicely hand in hand and I think S will be able to offer me some great tips! Like the exercises we were working on last night just helped me so much with my blanks of late!
So this morning I went to take Heartly out and got the fright of my life when I heard a voice coming from the roof "Sorry I'm just cleaning out the gutters" Hmm, someone could have warned me, I thought. could have been rather embarrassing Lol! ah well! he sounded nice enough but I was just surprised that "they" (whoever they are) could still allow people just to walk into my backyard without telling me! cos he said the gate was wide open, being that alright for Heartly? he spoke bout Heartly for a while, I thanked him (maybe for being witness to Heartly toiletting) and then went into feed her. but as I wrote that, I think I should talk to someone about making me aware of things like that! I mean for goodness sakes, anyone could just walk into my backyard and that .. I could put a padlock on gate (which I was thinking seriously about at one stage). It's happened before where I've heard ppl on the roof and was actually kinda frightened as I didn't know what they were doing! *grr* not their fault. they only do what they're told but I guess I need to talk to corpret body or whoever about this.
Going out to boronia with shal and curt today. then C and I decided to go Indian for tea. it's been a while and I had a sudden craving for it yesterday so I actually did say "let's go indian!" I still don't know their menu and it's annoying cos I'm the kind of person who likes trying new things. but cos I feel they're under pressure, they don't read all menu and I just end up getting same thing. am not sure nname of restaurant but may see if I can find anything on the net in the way of menus?!
right, bout all!
actually just as I wrote the below line, I thought that I might ask someone at station (when i go up soon) if they can read me name of restaurant and when I come back here later, I'll see if they have any online menus.
til Next Time, RdFreak

Hi Rachel,
My name is Melissa and I'm a blind 26 year old.

Was that you at The Vision Australia "Zoo Tour Program" on May 25th?

I had Pam (the receptionists from Boronia Vision Australia help me around). I'm also a friend of Karima who also attended the zoo.

I'm awaiting on a waiting list to get a dog from SEDA.

May I friend you on LJ? I saw your name from Jordie's LJ and didn't know if it was you that I saw from the zoo program.
Cheers
Melissa

Hi Rachel,,
Yes I can be quiet, but when I get to know people I can talk a lot. I don't know if it's shyness or what.
You must have hated using your cane again at the zoo. I know I will when I get my dog. But it's for the best at a place like a zoo with the quarantine issues.
Yeah that was me on the YBC groups and I'm also on The Australian Guide Dogs Yahoo group.
Was good to meet you too. I'm glad you got to get in contact wth Karima again.
Take Care
Melissa

yeah well that's OK. I'm certainly pretty shy around ppl I don't know well!
Just curious, do you always get called "molly" for short? vvery unique shortening of Melissa! :)
ah it was very hard at the zoo using the cane, but I completely understood why I couldn't bring heartly, and I even enjoy the break from her sometimes! and I'm sure she does too! Lol she loves it at my parents cos it's memories of when she use to live there and she gets spoilt! my parents (her grandparents) love her to pieces, so they don't mind looking after her, which they have done when I've gone over Seas last February and July.
You take care too!
Cheers for now! :)
