my fourth week of work
I am so tired of stupid freakin connex. as said to so many, I use to feel sorry for them when people kept complaining about them, but they've just gotten ridiculous! Last straw was tonight when coming home on a damn 33 degree day, the lilydale train (which was ten mins late) was an old unairconditioned one; how stupid is that? and no wonder the damn platforms are chockers, on the day when moomba started and everything! So that and the fact that Heartly was playing up big time today had to be the end of my otherwise not so bad week, otherwise I was content enough; content enough this morning as I made me way into city to meet up with
loscha finally! We had lunnch at a Japanese place on flinders lane (forget the name of the things already, but they were quite nice - pancake type things! Then we caught the tram down to the gardens where we met up with B and H. then we met up with the rest of the turnout from
melbournemaniac . There was probably about ten or twelve all up; pretty good! I'm not going to list them all yet as I'm likely to forget some but I clicked with one or two others real well; not to say I wouldn't have clicked with them all; they were all lovely; but damn, one thing, it's kinda hardd to interact with a sightie crowd, hence why I preferr one-on-one or knowing them previous.
I'm also kinda shy too that doesn't help; mostly not shy shy any more, but shy more cos I'm always so self-conscious around new sighties; I don't want to stuff up!
So yes, I appreciate my sighted friends, and as said in the past, I have drifted from most my previous ones from tAFE and school, so I definitely love the prospect of making some more, but the eye contact thing will always make it so hard!
Two people were talking and I was trying to add my bit in and ask a question but since these people were two away from me (on the grass) I found they didn't realize I was talking to them so they didn't answer me! that's just frustrating as sighties always know when they're being heard by the eye contact.
anyway not to make any new readers feel bad, it's just a blindy problem! but as previously stated, it can be a necessary change from some of the silly clicky blindy community.
so again, yeah for more friends!
In other news, work seems to be running a lot smoother. I wasn't meant to work Thursday and friday but F had called to say he wasn't coming in so I got called if I wanted to come in, so course, I did!
Highlights included: second pay!
RB lending me his eureka, and I've had heaps of fun learning all about it. I was so curious, never having owned one meself. I was playing around with the music composer this morning! He trusts me too which is really good to know.
Connex stuffed up again the other day. Fault in Blackburn meant I was almost going to get a lift in with A's friend (who I happen to meet A on station) but then after ages, the trains were OK so i hopped on and was OK after that.
Mum cooked Lasanya for her b/day on thursday; that was nice! Nan was there as well as TC and the rest of the family!
Met up with Di on wednesday which was nice. We had Chinese in an arcade on Flinders Street. may end up telling Mum; not sure!
also prob going to U.K about the 20th of July. Tonight I will be working out my working week so I can attempt to leave on a Friday night or something. It was good last year, arriving when I did at 4.30 PM. anyway I will start pricing tomorrow once I work it out.

Hello Again!
It must be quite frustrating to know that you have to be somewhat aggressive to get an word in edgeways at the time, and I would be concerned about how I was coming across if I had to do that. Uh, that maybe didn't come out right.
I had a great time seeing you today, and hope we can do stuff again soon.
The group was a bit noisy today. It reminded me of being on a high school camp or something, but, in a really cool way.
Don't worry about the Okonomiyaki for lunch. They are something like $2.80 each. Quite affordable. One would expect you could eat two if you were starving to death, or had a large appetites in general. Was my pleasure to treat you to a new food you've never had before.
My Bus coming home from Bills was late 10 minutes, which was annoying. The trains are just getting beyond a joke at the moment. I went back to Bills and we played keyboard for a bit, then Matt and Richard came around. Richard is from the UK, and he was in a semi-famous band (the Bluetones) and, it turns out, he was in the TV Show Spaced that I really like (that I got on DVD in February for Michelle and I). I haven't gotten up to the episode he was in, so, I've gotta watch that A S A P!

if you're a big enough fan, you'll know who he is!!!
Re: Hello Again!
See you in a few months, ha ha! :)
Re: Hello Again!
oh, and that's what those pancakes are called, thanks. Lol! and no worries about the including thing. You're right though; I could very well be more aggressive trying to be included, but I don't want to come across as overbearing. anyway, mostly I am fine once I get to know people. but I simply wouldn't have come if I felt it'd be too hard. it's worth it to meet people so I certainly aim to put myself out there and be noticed. anyway I was included mostly so don't feel you have to apologize.
I certainly did enjoy meeting up with you as well; you're awesome, and I too look forward to meeting up again soon. *hugs*
Re: Hello Again!
To hook up the speech synth to a QY10 is moderately difficult, and, I think would end up costing many hundreds of dollars, and to be honest, it is something very far beyond my abilities as an electronics engineer. You'd have to take it somewhere for them to do it.
I'll have a bit more of a think, and I'll see if I can think of anything that would be better.
Were you interested in it just because it was a small very portable musical instrument, or, because it was something that you can use to put songs together?
Small instruments are very easy to come by.
Something with songwriting ability that doesn't use much visual feedback might be harder.
It will be fun using it again, though, when there aren't people around, and you can hear it. I'll be able to show you how it works a bit better. I dunno, you might be able to derive some useful satisfaction from it!
Re: Hello Again!
and ya know, sometimes it's not impossible to remember menu items; whether or not it could be easy enough to do that could be something we could figure out when I see it next. Eg. when I had my old mobile (without talks) it was possible to press the menu key and arrow down to certain items by memory, but of course, it's getting harder to do that now with more and more submenues, etc. :)
Re: Hello Again!
The QY has two parts to making songs
there are Patterns, which are from 1 bars up to 8 bars long. You can record these without any visual. It just plays over and over again, and you can play in notes into the loop, and it just adds them.
There are 4 layers to a pattern. Drums, Bass and two other instruments, which are Chord tracks.. You can set any sound to the Bass and Chord One and Chord Two.
Then there is Song mode. In song mode, you join a bunch of patterns up together, and put in your chord progressions.
The operating system can always be reset to the same position by pushing the Exit key 3 or 4 times. So, it would be possible to learn a bunch of keypress sequences.
Editing Patterns you've already put in is more difficult. But, if you could cope with just re-recording that bit, writing little patterns would be no problem.
I'm really thinking about this usability thing today! I was last night, too. It's a "big" technical issue, which is the kind of thing that I like to tinker with, even if I don't get much done.
