LJ idol rants

I've just been saying to [livejournal.com profile] golden_sands that it really really peaves me right off when people write in their LJ "vote for me; vote for me; vote for me".
OK for one thing, I rarely talk to my LJ audience, because it's my journal. secondly, I'm the sort of person who will never do it cos it's like saying "I'm desperate" or "I'm popular" or "I'm not confident with my writing so I need my friends support.
If I get eliminated this round, I can garantee it's cos I haven't had my "lj friends" vote for me. I'd much rather strangers vote for me cos they like my style of writing or they just like my subject matter. don't get me wrong, if my LJ friends want to vote for me, be my guest, but at no time will I ever request people to vote in my journal; it's unfair and I have no idea why the community would allow non-members to vote.
ah well, maybe it will change in the future?
til next time, RdFreak

Seriously. I agree with you 100%. Saying "vote for me" just makes people sound so freaking desperate to stay in or maybe they want some faulse assurance that he/she is a good writer. I've seen that soooo many times on my friend's page; it makes me want to hit someone. LOL.
