So just before I leave for VA I decided to take a squiz at friends page and was reminded from a post from her, about a bizarre dream involving [livejournal.com profile] shazza59 . Well, it more involved our LJ's. It didn't make sense as usual, but here it is )
*fastforward*
Well, the stats test today was a nightmare! I just don't know who to blame first:
VTAC for not sending me any examples from previous years (as they should have),
it would have been nice if R (or even my asking if I'd remembered) it was mentioned if I was allowed to bring in a dictionary (for us blindys, I spose that would translate to being able to look on dictionary.com - not that I ever did.
And, I won't even mention how absolutely pissed off I am with these new braille rules. -- Everybody knows I'm not into advocacy and policy and all that crap but that's no excuse in my opinion, well I guess it is in the way that I have no idea what's going on with these nnew rules, but, for what it's worth, (and I think I've said this before) whoever decided, in between when I'd learnt braille for the first time as a five-year old or something and now, that they want to change it to be more universal or something should be shot. no, they should be sacked, they should be made to go wash dishes for a living for the rest of their lives! And even more shame on them if he/she was sighted.
OK so, yes, I fully understand why braille should be more universal but damnit, why not have done that in the first freakin place? Why should we freakin have to learn a whole new set of rules? Do our sighted peers have to go back and relearn how to write? I don't think so! It's just *not fair! It's *not fair that today I couldn't even recognize some symbols. It's not fair that my braille speed slowed right down because somewhere along the way some contractions have been modified or taken away. It's not fair that I can't even get a braille keyboard on future note takers cos I can't be asked to remember certain new braille rules!
This is just pathetic and it's not fair that anyone would even have to fight over this! it's ludicrous in so many ways!
anyway, all I can say is lucky that I had a disc copy to referr to (which I had to put my answers on to anyway via computer obviously). I would have been stretching limits if I just had a braille copy! *grrrrr
oh yeh and the worst/funny thing of all? Because these are still relatively new rules, there was actually a braille key in the front of the book! Lol my gosh! Now I think of it, I wonder if it's on every new braille volume? Lol (though it certainly wasn't "Lol" at the time. I was ready to just forget it; that's how pissed off I was).
anyway so yeh, there's the braille issue .. if I can ever shut up about that .. and not give myself a heart attack. I don't think anything has peeved me off so much to do with our ever-changing society, or something. *deep breaths. Relax. unwind. it's all over now! happy happy joy joy!*
The questions were so stupid! Yes they were hard,, and pretty well all of them (minus the diagrams which we were excempt from) were derived from really hard-to-understand passages and poetry and tables.
Most of it was over my poor little head!
I thought it'd be a bit easier than tthat.
at least this test is only for getting into one uni! *grr
Til next time, RdFreak
