my Nan and technology?

I tried to show Nan how to answer callwaiting, but .. alas.
I set up Nan's Telstra 101 service; she didn't want me to at first, but now she swears by it!
She's been arguing with herself for years whether she wants to learn how to use the computer. Our whole family (including myself) have been encouraging her. course, I tell her i would definitely teach her but as I use it differently than the average sightie, it probably wouldn't be practical. So, this woman their age from the church has got two computers and will teach Nan and D
-- last night on phone when I called her to tell her about possible job:
Nan: So I have my first computer class tomorrow.
R: wow, really?
Nan: yes, there's two computers there with a mousepad.
R: and what windows are you using?
Nan: hey?
R: Well what windoes operating system are you learning?
Nan: Um, I don't think it's the latest one?
R: Windows 98 maybe?
Nan: Yes, that sounds right. Is that a good one?
R: Yes, people certainly still use it. Now just be patient. don't give up. Lol
Nan: don't say anything to the others. Want to surprise them.
R: I won't. but you have to be on the internet first before you can email. Will I give you my email address?
Nan: noooooooo, just the basics first.
Hopefully she can absorb without giving up, as she admits she does.
Big Kev's done it this time:
Well finally I have the excuse to clear steer of Kev aka Black bird (on zone).
First I used zone BBS by phone to re-record my audio profile as I was curious. yhe rated me a 6 cos I did the unthinkable, in his opinion, and I gave them my username in the intro!oh no!
Secondly I decided to give some feedback for the zone by phone. so I went to zone suggestions and created a new board topic without thinking, I was so excited. gave positive feedback then added some suggestions. next thing I find another girl has started a zoneBBS by phone board topic as well. .. next thing, Black bird says in both of them, "there's already a board topic about this". How dare he belittle me right? OK I probably should have left it, but I wrote him privately and raved on about how it was a mistake and how he shouldn't have said anything if he didn't want to belittle me.
anyway on the board I had written "sorry if I offended you" sarcastically. then he decides to bring sexygirl86 AKA shel into it and they both put posts up about how they hate it when people double up on board topics. I had never had a prob with SG86 in the past. we chatted a few times, but no, they all want to suck up to him cos they're simply scared of him, but not me. I just wrote "get over it guys". No doubt I'll get on and find more abuse but I don't care! As I told Kev, I've sat there and watched him belittle, and be soooo damn rude to people but I'm not going to take it myself.
the guy has serious issues, honestly. He sits there on the zone all day, all night, flurting with people half his age (seriously) and grumbles and bitches at people to whom he doesn't click with and honestly makes the zone a more miserable place. Instead of sitting there taking his frustrations out on people, he should be getting help and I don't just say it lightly. anyway, one thing I am not going to do is let him start on me! he needs to grow up; start acting his age! ah well, there's one brit who won't get up and get a job. .. OK OK .. now I'm done talking about him. He doesn't concern me. but what does is that others are so scared of his other side, they have to go against me too! ah well! .. it's just an internet site at the end of the day, who cares! I, unlike some people, have more important things to think about, like, uni or reception job, or, somehow, both?
I go into uni today to register with DLOs. They are going to meet me at the tram viaduct as I haven't had orientation yet; next week I do though. next week will be busy though as I'll have transition program next Monday and Tuesday, then hopefully D (from guide dogs) for the rest of the week; next week sometime anyway but not sure what afos she'd set aside. guess I'll call her hey?!
anyway I haven't caught the tram on my own before so hope I'll be OK. I hate the idea of trams. they are faster than catching two connecting busses, but i hate the ones that you have to go into the middle of the road for. don't mind if you can wait on the curb, but not these ones on Burwood highway. ah well!
