well, I'm just speechless!
As someone who has always been way way way under-aged when it comes to reading/listening to books, I took the plundge and heard the entire dramatization of "Pet sematary" by Steven King this morning while having a good old lay in bed, and all I can think is "weirdest! ever!" that I've heard!
I'm aware that his stuff is far-out; I mean, i had attempted to listen my way through a couple of his other books, but hadn't mannaged to get through one.
I just, I dunno .. it was so unpredictable! Where on earth does he come up with these strange ideas? One really has to wonder, what?!
I realize that the title has been made into a movie and all, but, I wouldn't dare bother til now when I decided to download it on the weekend!
Problem is, i get so envolved in books (especially when they're made into plays) and because I always hold on to the realism, it really throws me when something totally out-there happens, like in that play.
While on the phone to RB before, I was questionning why people are drawn to these bloody gutty stories? I remember asking B the same question a few years ago? I don't get it!
not that I totally didn't like Pet Sematary. I mean i did listen to the entire thing afterall (I could have simply stopped winamp or given up at the end of either one of the individual four files) but I didn't. I was intrigued; mostly cos i'd heard so much about it, and wanted to know what the fuss was about, but also cos it was just a normal American family who's "old man" went a bit loopy! yep!
I guess if/when I hear it for the second time, I can make my judgement of whether I like it or not. -- I wouldn't listen to it at night though; especially with that haunting music all the way through it! -- King should put a disclaimer on his novels "not to be read/listened too/watched at night". I'm a wimp; always have been, always will be. Guess a lot of people are, but just don't admit it! -- but it always has made me wonder; how come the darkness is so airry-scarey? yet daylight is fine to interact with the scariness! weird .. ahem ..
anyway, dean just called me then.
Last night I went back to parents for tea from city and we had chicken sznitzil and Mum also made Indian chicken (which I didn't have; too spicy.)
last night, Andrew and Thomas got evicted which is fine! Lol I mean thomas was alright. But andrew and Hayley were totally going for it on the eviction stage! wow! that's just .. weird!
Before that I met up with [livejournal.com profile] loscha for lunch in city. we ended up at KFC (after Japanese was closed) then we went to Australia on Collins where he showed me his new cassio mt40. it was awesome to look at, but didn't do as much as most of the others do. -- anyway he then gave me the case for my future MT25 (if I got that right) then I caught the train.
Oh before that I heard of the unfortunate passing of B's sis M. it was just so shocking; poor things. -- so much death over the past few years; I know of or know personally at least one a year! -- freaky time to be listening to King dramas hey?!
tonight J is coming for tea after work before she leaves for Syd tomorrow, music camp next week and only gets home two days before I'm due to leave!
Haven't eaten yet; think I'm ready to do that at 11.16, Lol!
not a lot planned for today. I'm meant to be filling in some anual reviews and stuff for work but haven't got the files yet from RB (who had to send them to me again as my forwarding from outlook friday, for some reason didn't work.)
I'm packing thursday as Mum is bringing over the big wheely case of Dad's. Then am seeing b Friday. -- so it's good that I've been seeing people before I go; it's nice! couldn't see Shell cos I wasn't to be free thursday; ah well!
me goes.
til next time, RdFreak
