I was going to write the following in reply to an entry on
ausielj but will state my thoughts here first so I don't have to at least repeat myself.
Look, I am a person who admits to my faults. I am the first to admit I have them, and will fess up to mistakes if/when I realize I've made them. I have no problem in saying "sorry!" but, this "sorry" business Aussies will be witnessing tomorrow is just too much. I'm sorry, but it wasn't our generation. If us or our government were involved with the "stolen generation", good, we'll apologize, and I'd feel proud of such a confession, but for goodness sakes, why? Yes of course I feel extremely sorry, and heart-broken when I hear that "they" use to treat people like this, but that was then, not now.
I read on Facebook, of events people are accepting, saying "sorry" and groups that people are joining .. "one million people feel sorry". well, yes I feel, but I don't say; it wasn't me who did anything. -- I am sorry for the horrid way the white people did treat the rest of them! :( -- it's a hard one!
In other news, just work. got a call from this guy yesterday afo wanting to arrange delivering flowers to his g/f in the building for valentines day; how sweet!
today I was told that I'd be starting at Queens street week after next. and, I am made to do O&M for the occupational health and safety reasons. so will suss it all out, plus my awesome japanese food place next week, which has the pancakes without fail every day, yum! :)
today was my one year anniversary yeah!
can't believe I'll be leaving after this week; will miss them (especially RB) heaps; we've really grown close, but it's not going to be "out of sight; out of mind" as he keeps on jokingly suggesting to me! thank god for skype and phones hey! :)
three more days at South Yarra; for now at least, until I go back to fill in for one of them.
til next time, RdFreak
