now to yesterday: I swear, some people just do not know how to relate to blindies, and i have to admit, this makes me angry, especially when i find myself apologizing at the end when I shouldn't have too.
Situation:
I finally discovered what the delicious breky smell is on my daily walks from sY station to work.
I walk into this lovely CAFE to be greeted by this, friendly woman who greets me in the usual routinly-for-these-places fashon.
R: What sort of breakfast things do you have?
Woman: I'll get you a menu. (yes I had my dog next to me, as per usual, but this fact, I concluded may have easily been un-noticed, so i casually said:
R: Oh, I am unable to read the menu, so was just wondering if you could tell me.
Woman: what sort of things do you like:
R: (trying to keep my cool, but started to get frustrated. I never ask them to kindly read the menu out to be so they can give me a weather forecast instead. so I repeat;) What sort of breakfast things do you sell?
woman: we have porridge, bacon and eggs, fruit salad ...
R: (mouth was watering. I concluded that I'd try the bacon and eggs another day, but since time is ticking by, I'd just order the fruit salad, and take it to work, so is what I did.)
She went away to get it, while I tried desperately to find the counter. Upon walking up and down for a while, I finally found it, well, i think, still not 100% sure. A few minutes later, she comes back.
Woman: That will be $7.50.
me: (taking out a note and can't be bothered with the cash tester thing, so I say): How much is this?
woman: $7.50.
me: No, I mean this, (still holding note out)
woman: $7.50.
me: (patiently) no, I mean this note.
woman: $7.50 (note in exactly the same tone as her first repeat).
me: I men, I was just wondering firstly, how much this note is.
woman: oh, that's 20 dollars.
me: (to myself), finally!
So I hand it to her, she gives me the change bla bla.
Several minutes later, she comes around with the paper bag, which, I at first presumed was mine, so, I held my hand out. nothing happened. Woman comes over to stand beside me.
"woman: It's ready!
me: (holding my hand out): thanks.
We stand there for a few minutes. She asks someone else behind the counter if she can serve someone else. I still don't get anything placed in my outstretched hand, so I presume, maybe the paper parcel is for another customer, and withdraw my arm and wait.
woman: It's ready.
me: thanks, (thinking maybe it's on the counter.
Woman: It's ready (still in same calm tone as her first repeat.)
me: oh, so is it on the counter?
woman: I'll get a business card for you.
me: thanks, so where is it?
woman: Neish, on toorack road. (OK, so she was now telling me where this lovely cAFE was located; i did know this info already; afterall, I was there, why no?)
R: ah OK, so where abouts is:
woman: It's on Toorak road in south Yarra, (still with same calm tone as her first repeat).
me: (grrrrrrr. takes card): thanks, so have you got my fruit salad?
woman? yes.
me: (putting my hand out to finally receive my parcel.) Sorry, I didn't realize.
woman: I didn't think you were ready.
ah yes, and might I add, she had exclaimed what a lovely dog i had.
So, I made it to work with no less than three minutes to spare!
wow! -- the bacon and eggs will draw me back though, but this time, I'll be on my feet more.
til next time, RdFreak
