R.I.P Molly Cat
Jul. 31st, 2009 07:59 amWell last night was horrible, quite apart from the things that have been going down with the boy, *grrrr!
I was having a delayed reaction to Lucy Lu being put to sleep last week; and little did I know, I had reason for the extra sinking feeling last night.
I'd gone out for tea after work, with me, myself and of course, I. Shouldn't have gone there; Our Mexican place is much better, and cheaper than the one near south Yarra station.
I had originally actually planned to go to Mum's for tea, where she said I'd probably be saying bye to Molly. Apart from her arthritic pain getting worse, she was now constantly toiletting all over the house.
However, I didn't go to Mum's in the end, cos I didn't want her to have to drive me home later in the cold and wet.
Anyway, Mum called me last night and said that her and Roz took Molly to the vet. She went more peacefully than poor old Lucy Lu, because she's always been a quieter cat, and she didn't need the senative first, (which had made poor Lu throw up all over the place before hand.)
Of course having lived here for the past 7.5 years, I didn't have a lot to do with the cats in the end, but they were always a part of our lives.
As described in the Lucy Lu tribute post, I got given my little ball of fluff on valentines day 93, and she was, indeed, Molly.
Ang had wanted a kitten for sometime, and i had said that if i were to also get a cat, i'd name him/her something starting with M; I dunno, it just felt right.
I remember Ang went to tennis that night, and as Mum went to drop her there, (cos remember, we didn't have our licence in those days; I still don't, but that's another story! .. ahem). Mol and Lu would love to get away from me upstairs, and I'd eventually find them purched on top of the rail.
We tried to discourage them from wandering anywhere but the family room, as back then, as described already in Lu's post, they were both quite sickly cats when they got home from the RSPCA.
Molly was so playful. She reminded us of a dog as we'd throw little balls of paper, and she'd run and fetch them for us, Lol!
I also remember, I'd be holding Molly, and Ang or someone else would walk past us, and Molly would stick her paw out and tap them as they went. It was sooo cute!
I also use to sit Molly up next to me on our old lounge chairs, like a human! Again, she was cuuute!
As also described in LucyLu's post, Molly was always the more quiter, timid one of them both; Lucy was headstrong, and always ready to protect our property.
I think of these cats in heaven now; Lucy welcomming Molly with open paws. They both walk up to Zoe, (our old cat who Molly and Lucy had great pleasure in picking on when they were kittens), and apologizing to her for their earthly sins.
They're all playing together now; all three of them; in fact, probably all our cats we've had to date, our birds, my two ducks and two chickens I'd looked after during my time as a child/teen.
R.I.P Molly Molly; You and LuLu were my pride and joy, and i love you both.
See you on the other side!
