looking up
Mar. 11th, 2010 08:10 amWell last night we went out to Chinese for dinner. didn't end up walking as I couldn't risk it, but let me tell you, the fresh air did do me the world of good; think that's one of the main things I had been lacking. It sucks that this place is so hard to get around. I will try to relearn some stuff on the weekend so I can be a bit mobile next week. -- I just remember last year when our distant relos from U.K were here and they would just wander off while dad was at work and do whatever they liked! being blind absolutely sucks for this reason alone; I can't explore new places on my own; I hate it, and I don't care about admitting so. Indeed most of my other blindy friends my age have been able to accept all, and while I do accept mostly, I will never ever accept it as far as my independence goes in new countries. Cos if I were sighted I'd certainly make sure I got my moneys worth.
I remember when I was younger and dad worked primarily up in Sydney with Optus, Ang use to be able to go and stay with him because she could do her own thing during the day, but I couldn't because I simply don't know my way around in new places, ah it gets me mad, but such is life! As said, it's only an issue when travelling; I'm the sort of person who ordanarily would need to be doing things all the time; if I'm not out all day, just coming and going would be nice. but this is what I was talking about earlier where Joy would be good to have around. Having a guide dog def helps a lot, and I am def going to enquire about the rules and regulations regarding what countries we can take our guide dogs; I think it's worth it!
I can't remember if I ever mentioned in here last year when I got a bit lost up at Marina mal over here, and cos no-one could speak english and wanted desperately to help me, they got me more lost! ah well! I'll get over this!
Anyway needless to say after that minny rant, I am feeling a lot better; except for the fact that I did just finish listening to the previously-mentioned "seven little Australians" and am sad; am always sad when characters die. :(
Since I have mostly got my tiredness under control, I certainly wasn't going to risk staying up and attending the cisco lecture this morning (1 our time). I had originally thought maybe I would, but nope, not now; will have to downloadn it obviously.
Dad's got a farewell dinner to go to for a friend who is leaving so will be on my own for dinner tonight; he is coming home for lunch though.
