So, to my relief, I worked out how the Rom packs work on here; go me! :) It's quite different to how they work on the PT-50, but it's somewhat simple; simple when I worked it out I would like to note! :)
i went to get my "FUN WITH CASIO" cartrige (the original one I got with the PT-50. and I put that in the sK-8. Fortunately, it is put in exactly the same way as the PT-50. I then pressed buttons for a while with nothing happening but the error beat, (each casio I've come across, has it's own little error noise; on the pt-50, it's simply a tone, in about a third octive B from memory. This was a tiny drum beat).
anyway, after a little more of pressing buttons and getting nothing but error beeps, I started to play with the slidy switches on the left. I discovered, quite by accident, after a while, that, I had to slide the on/off switch down a few knotches before the rom Pack will work. I then pressed a note and heard "YOU ARE THE SUNSHINE OF MY LIFE" start to play (which is the first song on the ROM. I then worked out that by pressing the play/stop button (which I'd also figured out) then a note, it would play a different song.
I then assumed that every key represented a number, and by starting off at the left, I was able to play the songs in order, (unlike the PT-50,, it seemed that the blacknotes were also numbered.) so, that's how I worked that out! yeah! :)
When I first heard "SUNSHINE OF MY LIFE", I thought it sounded very weird.
When i read the ROM pack page, I read the definition of them were like what Middi files do; i never saw it like that, but sure enough, this cartrige I tried would have me agreeing. It's funny because not always the same instruments are used as the PT-50; well for a start, the instruments don't match up, but I presumed that maybe the SK-8 would play the same ones as the PT-50 had in the same parts of the songs. but they didn't. some do, which is a bit of familiarity, cos some of them sound very similar.
Course the drums are so much better on the SK-8, so it sounds quite different! It's actually quite amazing and mind-blowing seen as I have been only hearing the songs on the PT-50 up til now.

K off I go to continue learning, yeah! :)
til next time, rdFreak
