can't get over it!
May. 17th, 2007 09:58 amOK, I have never heard of the name Plaxy; but that's the name of a poor mobility instructor working in the eastern region of Vision Australia.
When i first heard it a few years ago, i was quite worried! And looking back on it now, I still can't work it out!
"hmmm, we don't have enough strange uncommon names to choose from which sound reasonably normal, so let's go for a different approach. .. let me see! ah I know! let's get my waxing kit out and go from there!" Lol .. yeh OK so I was thinking this morning that it sounds like a waxing brand or something.
gee, I don't mean to sound awful but whenever i hear that name I just cringe, especially cos I have spoken to her at the start of the year to arrange some last minute mobility around uni, and she seems very nice!
OK, it also had occurred to me this morning while tucked up in me bed, that I accidently ripped the cab driver off yesterday - the one that drove me to Monash. I failed to explain yesterday that upon arriving there, I couldn't get in touch with Catherine, so after a few attempts I decided I might pay and she can give me the voucher later. So I did, and as soon as I did, Catherine knocked on the window and said "Oh no, did you pay?" and I'd replied that I did and explained my reason. So she asked if we could do the cab voucher instead which came to $11.90 (which I had given him a $20 note and got back $8.10 change). so he gave me back my $20 and that was that; I had forgotten about the change he had given me. He didn't say anything and I was on my way!
so, like I say, it didn't occur to me til early this morning that I'd forgotten to give him back his change! woops! OK with me, though I am not one to be dishonest about that. if I didn't have other things on my mind, i would have remembered. since he knows where I live I hope he doesn't come back and haunt me or something; don't think he would though. ah dear, what a fruitcake!
all for now, except, I was just listening to Neil when I woke at 9 (yes late for me, I know), and he was interviewing some guy from the states who was the founder of this program where any mothers about to abandon their babies can drop them in at a centre and are entitled to counselling any time I think after the twelve days they drop them off; after that, I guess they're adopted out though they didn't say. Apparently this guy was critical of our system because of reading news about "baby Catherine" who was dumped outside dandenong hospital at three days old (or something.)
Neil surprised me. He didn't think this American program was logical at all, because it would mean, in his view I think, more mothers can just "try before they buy". yes true, but, as the american guy said, here, because there is no such program, depressed mothers may probably get arrested or something if they dumped the baby but then decided to come forward! .. well as Neil and the other radio presenters have said, I'm sure that would depend on the circumstances really. And, as the American guy said which Neil took great offense too, there's probably quite a few more baby-dumpings that we don't know about. That may or may not be true, but Neil wouldn't know that if it wasn't in the media.
I thought it's not worth calling Neil over cos he'd just cut me off most likely. He seems to be getting that bad these days! He's getting more like a Hinch, he will not let those with opposing opinions have their say.
then RB called me again and wanted to know what holidays I'd be taking, so after calling flightcentre to double check (cos I can't seem to mannage their PDF itineraries) I called back to let him know! -- we've been commenting how we've been on the phone every day this week! Lol!
til next time, RdFreak
