The final full day of training
Dec. 3rd, 2009 04:22 pmWell, subject says it all. I'm so tired; am looking forward to going home with Joy and settling her into my life, but at the same time, this centre is amazing; so friendly and we get so spoilt; we do always miss the place!
This morning was a pretty busy one. We drove to Fairfield station and all caught the train together into Flinders Street station where we walked along South Bank and through the Casino out to have .. guess what? .. another coffee; but I had another smartie cookie.
Then we walked back and caught the train. It was fifteen mins off lunch when we did come back, so it did take an entire tiring morning.
I got a bit emotional along the walk. someone bumped into me, rather hard, and then I broke down cos I was tired, but also because I have got the least amount of sight in my class and therefore, everyone seemed to be talking so visual. normally that wouldn't bother me, but to me it seemed, they all wanted to go somewhere that looked visually appealing to them during the walk, or at our final destination. It had built up a bit, but I was finally over it. I guess training can be pretty emotional; adding to that, I have been a bit inconsistent with my meds lately, but that will definitely change as I use to be quite strict on them.
This afternoon the kennel girls helped me to bath Joy, so she's even silkier now. On my way back from the kennels, I'd said that I was curious about it all down there and that I'd love to do a tour. The girls said they'd be happy to give me one, but I didn't think I had time as we were going to the restaurant later. However, Jane said that as they were taking Conny and Sharon out, I'd have more than enough time since we went out yesterday.
So after GinaMarie bathed Jipsey we both went down with the girls to the kennels where all the barking dogs were, and were shown the kennels and their running yards. They then answered the million and one questions we both had about all the goings on there; what time they take the dogs out to do this and that, etc. The younger the dogs are, the further along they're situated until finally the breeding centre where the pups are of course born, and stay there til they go out to their puppy raisers at approx six weeks of age. I did so enjoy learning about how it all works, as we never really get the opportunity to ask the instructors about all that sorta stuff.
On the way back up to the centre, I had told Michelle (who was talking to me) that I know a blindy that use to work in the SEDA kennels, and how I'd love to do something like that; even just to volunteer as of course I start my fulltime work in January. She thought it sounded a great idea, and if I was interested, to speak to the volunteer co-ordinator which I might do; working with animals would just be awesome! -- I know I'd be kept pretty busy, what with fulltime work, singing (if I keep that up), volunteering with pups and spending time with the boy, but, maybe I could do it!
Anyway, that brings me to now really. I was just having a lovely snuggle on the floor with an almost-dry Joy before writing this entry.
The others should be back soon, and we'll be leaving for the Tai restaurant at around 5.45; so good!
So I would imagine the next time I write will be at home, which as I say, is sad in a way. so,
Until Next time, RdFreak
