just having written an email got me really pondering the question of which there should be the answer on the world wide web somewhere, but haven't as yet checked it out. why the heck is this new windows called "Windows Vista"? Wasn't it originally called "longhorn"? Well at least there's a slight improvement I guess! but what is this? I mean we had
Windows 3.1 (the first ever windows I used), 95, 98, 2000, 2003 (is there a windows 2003 or is that just MS office) ah and, longhorn! Lol That just kinda sounds really bad! reminds me of a ship! Lol

Well there was ME and XP, you can't forget XP! lol
And I think 2003 is just non Windows stuff.
Maybe Vista is supposed to be celebrating the next 10 years of Microsoft world domination or something. After all, they were hoping this would come out last year.. Then this year... Then maybe in ten years... It's like a very optimistic marketing scheme. lol
Oh well, yay for thoughtful questions of the day.

All windows operating systems have codenames and release names. Windows 95 was codenamed chicago; and NT4 was codenamed hermes. OS/2 had a codename of warp; not sure of the other codenames. XP stands for experience; and yes there is a windows 2000, me, 98, 98se, 95, 95osr2, and windows server 2003. Don't confuse windows server 2003 with office 2003. longhorn is the codename for vista whilst it is beeing developed.
