I really hate the Friends reunited (formally the school friends) site. it's soooo cluttered now! I use to be on that site all the time when it was schoolfriends and it was a sinch to get around. Gradually it's turned into the worst site I've ever seen. There's a "text only" link, and even that is not much different. it use to just take me a minute to scan down my schools and see the newbies there, but now it takes me an age just to find the year I left. and clicking on a profile, well .. ya have to click about four or five different links to see their whole profile. it's just so confusing!
Just before I went to it and it says I've got a new message but every one of them is dated 2004 and earlier. so, if I'm missing out on a potential old friends message, I'll be annoyed! *grrr why do things have to change? Back when I registered on schoolfriends in 2000 or so, i was about the 25th person from Vermont. I use to love watching the list grow, and participate on their message boards! now I wouldn't dream of that! *grrrr, it's really a gripe now! Now instead of just plain old schools, clubs and armed forces, it has stupid things like streets, neighbourhoods, - just so much crap in my opinion. I just want my schoolfriends site back? :(
In other news, Wise called me before and said there was a traineeship that was being offered and they thought of me! :) so will be going into practice interview tecnique. yeah! (I was about to say that's the closest I got to a job but, a few years ago when I was to fill in at RVIB was in fact closest) but let's hope for the best with this one! yeah! :)

To tell you the truth, it's not much better for sighted people. I find it terribly confusing to get around.

am glad I'm not the only one. yeh as I say, the text only site doesn't seem much different from the other one. :( I use to have a paid membership but I don't know if it6'd be worth me getting one again. half the time I just can't find anything any more. We should start a petition to take all the clutter away! :) Lol

Yeah, I thought about a paid membership... but instead I just list my LJ web address in my userinfo. So far only one person has actually been smart enough to work it out - but that was pretty exciting anyway, especially as we were best friends as kids and now are in regular contact again.

oh wow, that's soo cool! :) congrats! yeh I've rekindelled with some people from the site. I've tried to put my web addresses in my profile but they keep filtering them out somehow! but yeah as you say, some are smart enough to work it out! :)

Yeah, it's pretty unsophisticated text-stripping software. Basically, any word that gets stripped out (any part of your email address, words like "hotmail", or obvious suffixes like ".com" and ".org" etc) won't be stripped if you put some asterisks in it (like "hot*mail", c*o*m).

It's pretty lame, but I guess they have to make money from it somehow.

yeh true. .. I think from memory I once tried to put my email address there as "dot com" and it took that out. I'll try the * thing, thanks :)
