friendship - for good or for bad

OK that little cow in my journal last night largely related to the few so-called friendsin my life of late.
Over the past few weeks I have come to realize many things about friends. -- I'd come to realize that there are a few people in my life who I call friends, or may even like to still be considered as friends, even though if it wasn't for my contacting them, I'd never hear from them. -- I'd come to realize I'd been doing this for some time now, and it takes a lot of energy out of me.
Friendship is a two way street, why no? -- you contact me, i contact you the next time, not I contact you, I contact you again the next time, and the next time ... honestly?!
I admit that I am not always good at keeping in contact with friends as I should, but this is not what I'm talking about. -- the people i am talking about are mainly RL friends, though some of them do exist on my LJ page, and i am not going to mention them because: A it's a public post and I wouldn't humiliate them, and B there are varying degrese of it, and C this is mainly for myself, not anyone else.
If people want to be a friend of mine, show me that.
Again, i have no energy any more to keep on chasing people.
I know my true friends, ie. the ones that want to be friends with me because they share in their duties of staying in touch with me. I have plenty of them, which I have been able to re-afirm over these past weeks, and I am extremely greatful.
In related stuff, I have had opportunity to rekindle some friendships lately, so I've got to do my part before it's too late; and that, I will do.
anyway, that was the cow from last night I had. i was just looking at some Facebook pages actually, and it re-affirmed what I've had to do to continue to get some people's attention. it doesn't work like that. Do what you do.

yes you're totally right, and i guess that was what I was so greatful for; the fact that I do have many friends who actually want to stay in touch with me; that makes me feel good!
Next year i'm only going to concentrate on these people, no-one else.

I'm sorry I don't keep in contact with you like I should, I just get swamped and don't keep up with my friends page like I should. Plus I still haven't figured out how to actually call you, so yea. still I'm sorry.

hey you, you weren't one of the ones in mind. I'm more talking about people who use to be friends that I've known for quite a while. you and I haven't known each other for that long.
So no, you have nothing to worry about.
but, in terms of calling, I'm the one who feels guilty in that regard, as I never called you like I said I would. you will have to drop me your new phone number now, Lol *hugs*

Wow... I feel better. Sorry your friends are treating you badly then. And then I hope that we can strengthen our friendship.

I'm still here for you; but given the timezone difference you'll have to skype or msn or email or message me when you're around and i'll happily chat. Given that I am looking after Gemma and her migraines I am not as available as I usually am; although there are plenty of times I am on the computer. As for facebook it can go to hell in a handbasket.

Kerry, I actually wasn't referring to you as one of "the people" either.
I do know you're there for me even though we don't talk heaps; you've already let me know this, and I know it hasn't changed.
I also haven't been the best at keeping the contact up with you, so no, you're not one of them, I promise! *hugs*

hey girl i know i'm bad about staying in touchas well I don't have an e mail address for you just the l.j. one and ever since hands moved and i changed e mails etc i don't know how to get on it anymore so i'm sorry as well for not staying in touch. i also know how it is to realize who your true friends are sometimes its a good thing to clean out your closet... so anyhow take care and keep in touch come back to the us but this time you'll have to come to kansas to see me

I hear what you're saying. I too am guilty of not being as good at keeping in touch, but it's really difficult to make the effort when you know the other person or people aren't going to go to any length to contact you...So why do we bother? Lol. I ask myself that far too often. :)

Whenever you write entries such as these, you always make me feel guilty, and like I'm a crap friend cos I don't keep in touch with you regularly.

I have some more free time now as I'm on holidays, so we should catch up. Also I still owe you from convention so we should work out how much exactly so I can pay you. Sorry for being slack with that.

I know how you feel about the whole friendship thing. I get so tired of initiating phone calls and contact that sometimes I just give up.
