Well of course, naturally today's entry was going to be about valentines day. (side note, I now have a cold. OK then .. ahem .. moving right along)
No, I hate valentines day; I despise it with all of my being! I just want to big it up and throw it away, never to be seen again .. until .. I have my SO, (significant other, that is), then I might like it for a little while! :)
seriously, at least the day fell on a weekend this year; that meant I could just stay home, and therefore, stay away from all the talk of flowers and dinners.
Last year i got one call from a guy who would be delivering flowers to his girlfriend at our workplace.
While sitting in my History class at CAE, someone came with a delivery of flowers! ... ahh .. me? no, thought not!
Every year during high school, there'd be the time of day when students (naturally the kind-hearted souls who wanted to get out of work), would go around to classes delivering notes to loved ones. I was never on the receiving end there; why would I be? I mean guys just hated me then; they stayed away from me as if I had some fatal disease; even chatting to me could be contagious! poor me!
Seriously, I'm actually not as bad as I thought. My love, did in fact, send me a greeting over sMS before he called me. Maybe we will be together soon! maybe not; we'll have to see how things pan out.
Of course I have always loooved Mum's tradition of giving us chocolate hearts. as explained in my previous LJ entry, she dropped in this morning and gave me four little ones, which no longer exist if truth be known!
sixteen years ago, Mum also gave myself and A a cat each, when we got home from school, being tricked into thinking we were going to get more chocolate. -- I'll never forget wondering why A, who got handed her kitty before me, was so excited over a chocolate! I mean, we all know I can get that excited over chocolate, but no normal person, right? :)
So the kitties Molly and Lucy are sixteen years old now. they're getting old that's fore sure, but they're still holding on; with a bit of arthritus; poor things. :(
Though the day is native to america, half the ausies sure get caught up in it.
Yes it is extremely commercialized, but as I said in another LJ entry not too long ago, i look at it as a celebration of partners; that we have someone; and it is a symbol of love, always!

til next time, RdFreak

beeing asked out

Sadly in 2009 no guy in their right mind dares ask a girl out generally speaking, for the fear that if they ask on the wrong day, or say the wrong thing they'll be up on sexual harassment. I remember hearing conversations on the train, "this guy just keeps calling and I reject his calls, I so don't want to talk to him," "Have you told him this?" "Na, i'll just keep rejecting his calls ey?" Of course people my age and your age still have some semblance of communications skills, god knows what the younger generation does.
