I don't have a lot to say on this topic, for the straight forward simple reason that I believe each individual is very different.
Some individuals are very mature from the word "go" it seems, while others will stay pretty immature right through their 20's, 30's, 40's, 50's, etc. I mean, OK, I have always said that I'll forever be a kid at heart, but, regardless of what that will exactly mean, I will always realize I have adult responsibilities now. Some people however, seem to never accept adult responsibilities, and that is the big difference i think.
I've always thought the law sucked, with defining age like it does. I'm sorry, but I feel particularily sorry for student/teacher relationships, where the young student is always made out to be the stupid little kid who has no idea what they're doing, and does not know what love really is! Bulltish! One does not have to be even an adult to understand what love means! -- this is a very touchy subject, but i can't help but feel that the law is soooo unfair sometimes. Sure, I know the teacher has the responsibility for his/her students, bla bla, but love is blind. chemistry may be there, and society tells us to follow our hearts. -- of course I'm not talking about just flings; that is an entirely different matter, but the law needs to be able to understand that meaningful relationships can be formed just about anywhere.
anyway, getting back to the question, if it wasn't for the fact of defining age, I think adulthood can begin at varying ages, from fifteen up. It may not always be fair, but there are cases where young teens have to start taking care of young siblings, and as a result, they grow up pretty fast.
And I said i didn't have a lot to say, *laugh* go figure! Lol :)
