(I'm writing this in notepad and will copy it later as I can't get on the LJ site atm).
I literally woke to the news (turning on radio when I woke) that Michael Jackson died of a heart attack. The reports were unconfirmed as far as 3AW were concerned, but a lot of the celeb websites were confirming it and so too was Richard Arnold, 3AW's U.S. correspondent.
Wow, I was so shocked! I bought one of his albumns and have a whole lot of others which I since had downloaded. He's had such a dramatic life honestly! There was all that abuse he coped with as a kid, and then having many aligations as an adult. Still, he kept on it would seem, doing what he probably loved best.
I guess he was an artist who was always around throughout my childhood. I always knew of him.
R.I.P. Michael Jackson! We all love you!

I will have to make my own tribute, but you really said it best! He is a survivor, and he ultimately earned world renowned success, while keeping a focus in being an advocate for various causes. He has dealt with some controversy, but always come through. Michael Jackson may be gone, but his legacy will live forever.

I felt the same way when I heard the news. It surreal. Michael Jackson was to our generation as Elvis was to my mothers generation. Such a talent and I too downloaded his entire discography after that.
