Nah, music does not determine a relationship I have with a person at all; I can't see the sense in it doing so with anyone else to be honest.
I guesss the most i'd go with that question would be to say thatin the beginning, I can feel just a tad disappointed if someone I am really getting along with is into heavy metal/grundge music; maybe 'disappointed" is the wrong word; I just question why/how they can like it. just because I simply can't identify with that music at all; it's just noise to me. -- but, i don't judge them for it at all.
I know in the olden days, i use to wonder how people can be such a fan of classical music and opera because to me, most of it is just so boring, and I'd find that the vibrato that some opera singers have is just too much and totally put me off. But now, I can see a lot of the technicalities with classical/opera.
Heck, my best friend is an opera singer and I know how much work she puts in; I think she's very talented. but in saying that, a lot of opera still doesn't appeal to me.
I appreciate classical music because of the fact that it's the jem taught in piano, and not that I'm an advanced piano player by any means, but just having learnt what i have, I can appreciate it's not as easy as people may think - yeh sure, it is to those people who have played all their lives, but for someone like myself who had given up when I was so young, and then tried to go back to it later, it's hard. :(
.. so, getting back to the original question, no, music does not define anyone's character. I've got really good friends who are really into all sorts of music that I don't like.
In other news, Kaz came over yesterday; it was fun. she went shopping with me, which i appreciated heaps!
I was thinking of going down to rye this weekend, but parents understandably decided they wanted a weekend to themselves; I do understand that since Dad's been away for so long. Yesterday, Mum had said I could go down there, but I'd said I had plans; now I don't; ah well; will give me a chance to get more job applications off. I decided to get really strict with myself and do the minimum of two a day.
