Yes, so it's that day once again, Melbourne cup day. While in the past our family have been to BBQ's at family friends, I'm not doing a lot today. Dad's in Rhy, Mum is .. I dunno what she's up too, and I dare say ang will be with Tc.
btw TE got back in touch with me, well sorta. we're still playing phone tag at the minute. haven't heard from TA in ages though I still get email forwards so I guess she hasn't forgotten me!
Yesterday I met Shell at Boronia, we went to Mackers (something I'm getting highly sick of but had it for convenience sake cos I'm sick of subway) then we walked back to her place. Had a nice chat to her and C. most of the time though C and I will try and talk and she will but in with something totally unrelated, (but that's the schitzefrenia (excuse spelling).
and other times C will be trying so hard to get her attention and when he finally does, she doesn't seem to care what he has to say. *grr*
I was wanting to comment on a news item of interest but since I heard it, it's slipped my mind, so will prob bring it up again when it surfaces.
but for now, I've read quite a few of my friends interesting views on Sadam Hussain (or insane as I call him) and his death penalty. and some of the discussion has really made me think.
Indeed some of the views have been mine but I never could express them in words to myself. But ultimately, death is so final and it doesn't resolve anything. it doesn't proove anything to anyone. It's just the quick and easy way out. they'd never have the chance to apologize, and I'm not copying anyone by saying this (because again it's many of the thoughts I've had not in words) but, surely everyone should get a chance to redeam themselves?
bbut then, I read a comment on an LJ that there was apparently only twelve murders in an Islamic community in 1998. That's of course where the death penalty is present. It's certainly a valid argument, though, I feel so guilty if I were ever to be for it; again, not saying I am, but it was an argument that could be used.
And also, in other news, why on earth do sporting icons who drunkly attack others think they have more of a right and that they will get off easier? Idiotic big-heads! Stupid footballer drunkingly attacked an Irish pub owner and feels he had the right cos he claims they were making racial slurrs about aboriginies. It was confirmed that nothing was said, and how is this Brendan guy meant to remember anyway when he was drunk? *grr ah well, he better apologize in Ireland this week.
and now I'm off.
til next time, RdFreak
